ECOCA Seeks Board Treasurer volunteer to join its Board
ECOCA’s Board Treasurer will complete his two-year term in November 2024. ECOCA is recruiting an individual to serve as its next Treasurer.
ECOCA is a 10-year old New Haven arts non-profit with a budget of $210K. It operates out of a historic house on Trumbull Street that has served as an art center since 1961. ECOCA is also home to the Brush & Palette Club and other groups that have been meeting there since the 1960s. The board stands at 9 people, with a plan to grow to 12 or so, in concert with the organization’s growth.
Our mission is to nurture artists and present contemporary art exhibitions and events on the issues of our time that are inclusive, welcoming, and promote dialogue across our community.
A Treasurer serves as an officer of the Corporation and attends Board meetings and:
Serves as liaison between the organization and its auditor (Currenty Davis Mascola, who files our 990).
Serves as liaison between the organization and its bookkeeper (currently Lynn Laundau, who handles monthly bank reconciliation, payments and vendor accounts).
Helps prepare and present an annual budget at the June meeting and presents mid-year budget-to-actual performance updates to the rest of the Board.
Helps review and approve occasional grant proposals/grant agreements as required by funders
Advises on financial matters including cash management policies, staff compensation, reimbursement procedures, etc.
Participates in Strategic Planning, Advocacy for the organization, Board Member recruitment, and occasionally represents the organizations in meetings with donors and potential donors, and serves on other committees as may be needed.
Required: Background in finance, accounting or related fields, knowledge of (or interest in learning) non-profit accounting and tax policies. Fluency with Quickbooks is a must.
