Dear Suzan and Howard,

We are thrilled that you will co-curate an exhibition with ECOCA. The exhibition will run from Sunday, November 12 to Sunday, January 14, 2024. This letter serves as our agreement delineating responsibilities for artist-curators and ECOCA. There will be a public opening reception on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 1-3pm.

Your exhibition entitled, A Way of Seeing Everything and Nothing will take place in the downstairs galleries 1, 2, 3, and 4.  Note that the smaller space- Gallery 2 has a projector installed already. Please see floor plan for dimensions. Foyer not included.

Scheduled Programs and Events:
Opening reception: Sunday, November 12, 1-3pm
Artist/Curators Talks: TBA

Please note our Winter Hours:
Sundays 12 - 5 pm
Wednesdays 12 - 5 pm
Thursdays 12-5PM

Guest Curators will:

  • Select artists & artwork for exhibition.  As discussed, you will peruse Open Call 2023 submissions for artists to consider and include open call artists along with others you invite.

  • Provide ECOCA with all participating artists contact info: emails and phone numbers

  • Ecoca will send each participating artist an LOA with the gallery

  • Provide title and exhibition description to be used for signage, website and press release

  • Provide artwork information for labels -- title, medium, year, sale price & insurance price with accompanying image of work.  Feel free to use the template provided.

  • Provide artist statement & bio for all participating artists

  • Provide hi-resolution images of all artworks from all artists

  • Install & hang the exhibition. Basic supplies are on-site. Please check with staff before any invasive installs.  You may not drill into any woodwork.  Gallery staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist as needed.  We will arrange for volunteers, interns to help with at least one week’s notice.

  • De-install exhibition and patch walls

  • Provide a list of special events to accompany exhibition so we may schedule them

ECOCA will:

  • Provide an exhibition space free of charge for guest-curated exhibition

  • Hold a public opening reception with light refreshments on date designated

  • Schedule a date for artist talks (on-site/zoom)

  • Promote the exhibition through our website, e-blasts, and social media

  • Schedule and coordinate special events during gallery hours

  • Create an ecard and press release and distribute to our media list

  • Create wall signage, exhibition list, and artwork labels.

  • NOTE: please note that we do not arrange or pay for shipping artwork.  If you are having an artist send artwork please have them send it to your address as we are not open everyday. We may be able to have works from NYC artists dropped off to a Board Member who lives in NYC who has offered to  drive works that will fit in her car.

Important Dates:

  • All above exhibition information & materials are due by October 27, 2023

  • Install Dates: November 8, 9, 10

  • Exhibition Dates: November 12 to January 14, 2024

  • Opening Reception: Sunday, November 12, 1 - 3 pm

  • Deinstall Dates: January 14, 3-5 pm (following closing 12-3pm); Wednesday, January 17, 12-5pm

  • All artwork must be removed by January 17 at 5 pm.


This letter will serve as our agreement.
