Cat Balco, Jeanne Criscola, and Karen Ostrom

Cat Balco is an artist writer and who has shown her paintings, murals, and collaborative projects widely; recent venues include Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT) Artspace (New Haven, CT); The Painting Center (New York City), and the University Gallery (Sacramento, CA). She has served as a visiting artist at institutions including the Maine College of Art, Swarthmore College, Pratt Institute at the Munson Williams Proctor School of Art, and Yale University.

Jeanne Criscola has built her reputation by integrating her experiences as a designer, artist, and educator collaborating with individuals and international organizations on arts and culture issues and social justice initiatives. Her artworks, which have been exhibited internationally, take the form of the book, drawing, photography, moving image, installation, generative art, and performance. Jeanne’s most high-profile publications and exhibitions are the many award-winning projects she has created for the Soros Foundations, one of which is in the Franklin Furnace collection of MOMA.

Karen Ostrom is a Canadian artist working in photography, installation, video and most recently, animation. Her work with linear and non-linear narratives has been developing for many years under the umbrella project Holiday in Hope, a fictional fishing village where the characters, all played by Ostrom, are defined by their labour or profession. Initially meant to be metaphors for the human psyche, the characters, over time, began to take on a life of their own initiating project content and direction.
