Pre-fabricated: Safdie-Klee, Interactive Digital Touch Display, 2024, 16.5" W x 10.0" H

“Prefabricated: Safdie-Klee” is a touch screen work created by using object oriented programming (OOP) written in p5.js. This algorithmic piece evokes three associations: (1) the technique of instantiation of a prefabricated software shape object; (2) architect Moshe Safdie’s famous “Habitat” apartment building made of prefabricated units for the 1967 Montreal World Exposition; (3) and Paul’s Klee painting “Zweihuegel Stadt” or “Two Hill City.” This interactive work invites the viewer to contribute to an ever changing composition which mirrors Safdie’s intent that architecture serves as a catalyst for community.
