Grayson Cox - Audacious & Persistent Rubbing Kiosk
Audacious & Persistent Rubbing Kiosk, Bronze, wood, mirror, paper, bone, and pencil, 2023, 60” x 40” x 36”
Audacious & Persistent Rubbing Kiosk invites viewers into a tactile experience that embodies resilience and the power of engagement. This interactive sculpture integrates materials such as bronze, wood, and paper to encourage viewers to physically create rubbings from cast bronze substrates inscribed with expressive texts. By transforming a static object into a participatory process, the work emphasizes the necessity of persistence in navigating cultural landscapes. Reflecting on the labor and audacity required to sustain creative practices, the piece positions viewers as both participants and creators, underscoring the collective endurance required to foster cultural expression in modern society.
