ECOCA is going to its first art fair! SPRING/BREAK LA We’re bringing local and regional artists out West. Carol Bouyoucos, Srishti Dass, Madison Donnelly, Julianna Foster, Tamsen Williams, Lauren Lee, Jihyun Lee, Caroline Mcauliffe, Barbara Owen, Andre Rubin How did we find these artists? They all applied to last year’s open call. This is an example of off-site projects we want to use our current ECOCA OPEN CALL 2024 for!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAYMaybe a work of art is just what your Valentine needs this year?Don’t miss the exhibition LOVE-STRUCK on our platform Digital Grace Feb 1- March 31 LOVE-STRUCK is themed around Valentine’s Day with an overall focus on love. It’s so important to acknowledge the love around us and the many forms it comes in. This holiday emphasizes the romance aspect of love, but I want to think about every area that love comes from: self love, love for family, friends, the world, and the people in it. This exhibition cherishes love and togetherness. LOVE-STRUCK is curated by Juliet Byrne, ECOCA’s 2024 winter session intern from Bennington College. Juliet used last year’s open call submissions to find the artists she chose to work with.

Don’t miss the next installment of New Haven Jazz Underground’s DIM LIGHT SERIES- Perfect for a post Valentine’s Day date, enjoy this free jazz concert Sunday, February 18 @ 3:00 pm. Martin Gohary is an avant-garde pianist + composer whose uncompromising vision and relentless recording schedule have established him as a rising performer in the contemporary music scene. His music defies categorization, blending elements of 20th-century concert music, jazz, electronic, and experimental music into a unique and captivating sound. With each new release, Gohary pushes the boundaries of what is possible with the piano, exploring new techniques and textures that challenge both himself and his audience. His music is both challenging and accessible, and his performances are always thrilling and unpredictable. Whether he is playing solo or collaborating with other musicians, Martin Gohary's music is always fresh, exciting, and deeply satisfying. Nick Di Maria is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, educator, and community activist based in New Haven, CT. A graduate of the WCSU school of music, and student of legendary trumpeter Dr. Eddie Henderson, Nick has performed across the country with his various projects and bands showcasing his music since 2006. He is a mainstay of the Connecticut music scene and is the director and founder of the New Haven Jazz Underground, a grassroots community based organization dedicated to producing and preserving Jazz in Connecticut. Di Maria frequently performs with various projects he leads which showcase a broad array of different styles of jazz and improvisational music. His bands and music have been described as “moody, playful and often times….danceable. In a word “groovy.”
